With the Website now back up and running again and the company now on summer break, I should like to share some thoughts with all members and our fan base. This year is turning into yet another very busy year for all of us, and I feel that we are in the fortunate position of having a terrific team of very talented and dedicated individuals who allow us to tackle such a huge workload and more importantly achieve the BEST standard of production and content that our patrons rightly deserve. Already in 2009 we have presented: Rodgers & Hammerstein’s SOUTH PACIFIC Mitchell Theatre. SING, SING,SING Adelaide’s Church Centre - MAY - the Rehearsal Studio Fund Raiser. Performers included established principals, with some New Faces stepping up to the mark and being given the Opportunity. Annemarie Blair, Gary White, Choreographed and Staged most of the numbers with John-Paul Liddle and Gerry McCulloch acting as Musical Directors with John-Paul also writing the script. Special thanks must also go to Marny Morrison, Susie McMahon, Martin Gillan, Frank McGadey, Irene Wales, Eve Kerrigan, Wilson Caggie, Malky McDonald, Jean McGregor, Charmaine Rodigan, and of course the cast who were quite Simply the Best. The Master of Ceremonies: Mr Robert Fyfe. A special thanks to: Simon Bain, Scott Andrews and Ian Runciman. PAUSE FOR APPLAUSE - JUNE. The end of term showcase presented by TAPS (Apollo Stage School) was held in Partick Burgh Halls to a very appreciative audience. With an imaginative programme of music and dance, beautifully costumed and stunning dance routines including an all-boy version of Swan Lake which really brought the place down. All the students Seniors, Intermediates, Juniors all gave Performances of a very high standard in Ballet, Tap, Modern, Street Dance, and Singing. All credit must go to Claire McCue (Ballet) Aaron Mooney (Drama) and TAPS Principal Jacque McGoogan for an evening of sheer entertainment. A fitting climax for the first half of our year. WEST SIDE STORY - OCTOBER. Casting is now in the final stages with further recall auditions being held over the next few weeks. We still require 12 MALES to make up the JET & SHARK gangs. Dance experience is not essential as full training will be given. Interested call Frank McGadey: 07702-165-475. Tickets for WEST SIDE STORY will go on sale shortly with ticket prices £6 - £20. 07/11/2008 : IMPORTANT COSTUME INFORMATION - OLIVER! CAST
Could the ADULT CAST please bring in cases / bin bags etc on Wednesday 12th November, to carry home their costumes that Apollo are providing. (Chorus,Governors, maid, Mrs Bedwin, etc.) PRINCIPALS' costumes from Utopia will be arriving on Friday 14th November, and not on the usual Thursday night! I assume that most of the principal cast are in for the drama night, and we can help with the costumes on that night. If they really can't make the Friday night, then I'll be at the run through on the Sunday if they come in early, then I can fit the costume and deal with the alterations on the Monday, in time for the dress rehearsal at the Theatre. CHILDREN will be taking home their brown suits that they wear in the orphanage scene on the Sunday 16th November. Each item is labelled with the child's name, age and the group that they are in. They bring their costumes to the theatre on the nights they are on. Any alterations can be done at their dress rehearsal. Marny.

04/11/2008 : Children's Fagin's Gang Outfit Information
Measurements for the orphanage costume (brown suit) were taken over a month ago now. The letter regarding what was expected of parents was handed out two weeks ago. For those parents who did not collect one: Your child will need a white school shirt to wear under the brown jacket (opening number), an old shirt will be fine, as the collar has to be cut off! For Fagin's gang we ask that you provide an outfit for your child............taking into account that "Oliver" is set around 1860 - 1880. Fagin certainly wasn't keeping the children in nice clothes!.......... old trousers, (school trousers will be fine) If they belong to a big brother.............all the better! a shirt, (not bright colours) a waistcoat or a man's jacket that we could cut down would be good. A cap, scarf, boots etc., Fagin's children would have thieved clothing from market stalls, and from clothes lines.......so they will not be "made to measure". We have asked that children wear their Fagin's costume next Sunday.....that way we can see where children will be placed in numbers and what we can provide to suppliment the costume. Don't worry! the children will be great and we still have plenty of time to make sure that every child on the stage is dressed appropriately. I'm sure that they will all be "wee stars" Any problems................call me on 07739 826 532 or e-mail me! Regards, Marny

Our rebels win in end. Frank Apollo. TUESDAY 12/2/08 BILLY ELLIOTT ***** Excellent cast Dance Teacher, mother (Ghost) father, brother excentric gran, Billy (Sam Angell) (Oliver – Apollo 2005) Theatre Royal strong character portrayal voice is breaking but danced like someone twice his age (13) strong story involving Miners strikes overt police action and the Iron lady (bring her back) stress because he wants to dance well imaging in that era and a cross dressing pal who comes on to him but is rejected nicely and new student who is rejected not so nicely but show has lost that heart stopping moment when he leaves to go to ballet school missed that tear last time I took in this show it had the pang just the same it was excellent. Frank McGadey Apollo. Oh! What a Night it Was! It Really was Such a Night! Our very first Fund Raising Event has been given a unanimous thumbs up by all involved. Robert opened and closed the cabaret with 2 very amusing songs which had the desired effect. Next on the menu a welcome cup of tea and a wide selection of donated home baked cakes, sweets, biscuits, indeed something for everybody’s taste. Now its onto the Bring and Buy Stalls where lots of bargains in Books, Candlesticks, Perfume, Toiletries, Jewellery, Wine, Videos were snapped up at real knock down prices. The nostalgia section of the night now kicked in with a selection of images and memorabilia being on show to members and friends for the first time in nearly 45 years! The Grand Raffle Draw then took place with Robert and Aileen (assisted by her son’s Cameron & Campbell) drawing the winning tickets and giving out the prizes which were varied from a litre of Whisky to a signed copy of a new book about the TV show Taggart. With the announcement of Rodgers and Hammerstein’s SOUTH PACIFIC as the Spring Production for 2009 our special evening came to a close. The Directors and myself would like to thank everyone involved from our cabaret artistes, the club members and their family & friends who turned out on the evening and who all contributed magnificently with money donations and superb gifts for the stalls and raffle. Special Thanks also to: Jacque McGougan, John Adams, Aileen Johnston, John Paul Liddle, Bob McDevitt, Nicky Martin, Joe Haggerty, Frank McGadey and of course Robert Fyfe. 07/05/2007 : MESSAGE FROM STEVE MARGOSHES
Dear John - What a week it has been! What a rare mood I’m in! Why, it’s Almost Like Being in Love! What an incredible gift you’ve given us with the premiere production of FAME FOREVER!! You and your wonderful cast, musicians and crew have poured so much love and Hard Work into our little show that “we blush to see it so elevated!” Thank you for your powerful direction and strong guidance. Above all, you’ve seen to it that the story came through, as portrayed by The Apollo Players who Really Care. Thanks for also making the various cuts and trims and for your beautiful and meaningful contributions to the staging. Also, you’ve showered our family with gifts, from the fantastic guide, Gordon, (an experience unlike any we’ve ever had) to the Formal Kilt (also obviously a first – and I’ve got the pictures to take home and prove it!), not to mention the exquisite 3-D framed poster and Quaich: thank you, thank you, thank you. You and the Players will have a permanent place on stevemargoshes.com. All my love, Steve Margoshes.
